Hi USB Fans (and PCIe fans)
We will be at IDF here in San Francisco Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. If you are there, stop by and see the latest in USB 3.1 and PCIe demonstrations
I love IDF. I enjoy the keynotes. I love seeing new applications and learning about what the ecosystem is building and enabling to be built.
USB Type-C defines a Dual Role Port (DRP) and enables Power Delivery specifications. It’s really important to remember that Power Delivery is a separate specification. You can implement the majority applications with USB without any Power Delivery. It helps with faster charging up to 15A with Type-C if you use just 2 Resistors and 2 Voltage comparators. You don’t need a special external chip. So for pure USB Device or Host implementations, it is really straight forward to implement and support Type-C and support a higher charging rate, with minimal additional expense. Keep this in mind as you plan out your Type-C implementation. (Our solution can help with this and help save money).
Intel Developer Forum 2016
See Synopsys Demos on USB Type-C, USB 3.1 & PCI Express 4.0 at 16 Gbps
For over a decade, the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) has been Intel’s premier conference, helping to shape the direction of tomorrow’s technology. IDF brings together people from every part of the technology world to experience visionary keynotes, technology and industry insights, and technical sessions (including lectures, interactive panels, hands-on labs and Q&As). In addition, the Technology Showcase hosts exhibits and demonstrations from Intel and leading technology companies.
