The International Optical Design Conference, which occurs every 4 years, is coming up soon on June 27. Though this conference is virtual, we’re looking forward to the opportunity to interact with optical designers, scientists, and engineers from around the world in a structured, and yet informal format.

We’re also eagerly waiting to see the solutions to the IODC optical design problems (which were highlighted in a previous post). On June 29 at 2:30 p.m. EDT, the winners will be announced during the IODC Design Challenge event. Dr. William Cassarly, senior scientist at the Optical Solutions Group (OSG) will give the Illumination Challenge presentation. At the start of the IODC Challenge session, there will be a special tribute by Stuart David, vice president of applications engineering of OSG, to the late Thomas Harris, the Founder of Optical Research Associates and Co-Inventor of CODE V.  A tribute will also be made to Roland Shack by Dr. John Rogers, principal engineer on the OSG engineering team.
