Announcing New Release of LucidShape CAA V5 Based for Automotive Lighting Design and Visualization in CATIA

We are pleased to announce the latest release of Synopsys’ LucidShape^® CAA V5 Based software product, which provides the industry’s only complete design and visualization workflow solution for automotive lighting products within the CATIA V5 environment. LucidShape CAA users benefit from seamless communication between multi-domain design teams with access to a large ecosystem of tools available on the CAA platform.

LucidShape CAA V5 Based v2020.09 introduces the SmartStart Material Library Module as well as upgrades and feature enhancements to the LucidShape CAA Base, Design, and Light Guide Design Modules.

New LucidShape SmartStart Material Library

Save time and lower the cost of product development with access to a library of materials and media commonly used in the design of automotive lighting systems. The LucidShape SmartStart Material Library includes refractive index and absorption data for various media, as well as pre-defined scatter materials. Measured scatter material and media data is available for volume and surface scatter from a variety of vendors, including Evonik, Albis, Dow Chemical, Trinseo, Sabic, Kopp, Covestro, Momentive, RTP, Auer, Idemitsu, Tenibac, VDI 3400, and Mold-Tech.

“Automotive lighting designers can reduce expenses with the LucidShape SmartStart Material Library, which provides ready-made, precise measurements of surfaces and volume scattering materials, rather than incur the cost of having them measured by a third-party service,” said Stuart David, group director of Synopsys’ Optical Solutions Group.

Base Module Improvements

The LucidShape CAA Base Module enables designers to quickly construct and simulate lighting models. Updates in version 2020.09 further streamline model setup and analysis. Users can:

• Easily apply scatter models to selected surfaces that have been parametrized based on precision scatter measurements and material vendor data
• Realize increased analysis flexibility with output of user-defined test table analyses in Excel
• Quickly determine regulation pass/fail results by re-aiming test points automatically
• Achieve better light guide uniformity with the ability to perform linear or curved section analysis on a UV Data View
  
• Compare two designs with the ISO contour plot overlay for two UV Data Views
  

Design Module Improvements

The LucidShape CAA Design Module includes geometry creation tools that give designers the freedom to focus on overall design objectives rather than the implementation details of complex optics. This release expands design options with the addition of PS Variable Rotational Lens and Rotational Fresnel Lens features.

Light Guide Design Module Improvements

The Light Guide Design Module provides designers with the capability to create light guide designs faster, optimize light distributions and uniformity, and achieve better as-built performance. Enhancements in this release make it easier to create filleted prisms for high-efficiency light guides.

Availability

LucidShape CAA V5 Based v2020.09 is available now. Customers with a current maintenance agreement can download this version from the Synopsys website using their SolvNetPlus account, or obtain the software from their local distributor.
