Finally SNUG got over 3 weeks back and the highlight of this year’s SNUG was “Low Power” and majority of the designers were using advanced Low Power Techniques to reduce Power.
Based on my interaction with various designers these were the techniques most commonly used in order of priority
(a) Power Gating
(b) Static Multi Voltage
(c) Architectural Techniques to reduce Dynamic Power
(d) Vt Biasing
Majority of designers working at 65nm and below were seriously concerned about Leakage Power and had concerns about Gate Leakage domination in the next technology node that they were planning on using. There are not many techniques out there to control the Gate Leakage directly.
